Depp trial goes deep

The ongoing libel lawsuit between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife, Amber Heard, is raking through the darkest days of a bleak relationship.  

More drama than Hollywood 

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are no strangers to the limelight. But with their ongoing drama again splashed across the headlines, their acting careers are firmly on hold. A sequel to last year’s defamation trial against the Sun newspaper, the script for this new showdown brings to light the stark realities of a wretched relationship.  

With Depp and Heard sitting 15 feet apart, the ongoing case is picking apart failings on both sides, ranging from alcoholism to manipulation and outright domestic abuse.    

Money on the line 

Depp’s $50m action against Heard is challenged by a $100m countersuit. So it’s messy, and it’s dragging all of the skeletons out of the closet. And if it weren’t already box office enough, James Franco, Paul Bettany, and Elon Musk are on Judge Penney Azcarate’s list to testify. Who’s buying the rights? 

As dirty laundry is aired for all the world to see, horrific text messages from Depp have surfaced, while similarly hideous abusive actions from Heard have also quickly made a splash. While pitched as a drama by the tabloids, it’s more of a tragedy that a marriage of just three years could cause such pain, anger and resentment. The trial, as they say, continues.
