Disney to hike ESPN+ prices

Do you have a moment to talk about our complete streaming bundle?

The first of many?

Disney’s ESPN+ hike is the biggest to date. Having tentatively upped prices by $1 before, the company has clearly seen reason to believe a more expensive sports package is the way to go. So, from August 23, you can expect your ESPN+ package to go for $9.99 instead of $6.99.

Really, this is all about making the complete streaming package that little bit more appealing. It’s keeping the price of the complete steaming bundle at an affordable $13.99. That package features ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+. So, you’re getting a lot for your buck.

Cutting costs

Price increases or not, the new cost still won’t touch the sides of the loss that Disney makes on its streaming services. Yep – a loss. Disney loses a fair whack of cash, but with an ambition to grow its global subscribers to 260 million by the end of 2024, the firm is happy to take it on chin.

And that’s all for the better considering Disney’s renewal of ‘Monday Night Football’ will add a $2.6 billion annual bombshell to the firm’s bill. So in view of this, maybe a slight increase in streaming prices is fair.
