A visit to the Ukrainian capital on Sunday made the speaker of the House the highest-ranking US official to meet Zelensky since the start of the invasion.
Support from the speaker
The West is showing no signs of wavering in its support for Ukraine. The visit of the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, is the latest demonstration of total support for president Zelensky, and as tragedy continues to strike there’s little doubt that this newfound backing sends a clear message to Putin and his cronies.
“Your fight is a fight for everyone,” Pelosi said. “And so our commitment is to be there for you until the fight is done.” With no sign of the conflict slowing down, these words will be of some comfort to many – and certainly discomfort to others…
Weapons, weapons, weapons
Another member of the Pelosi party that made its way to Kyiv was Rep. Jason Crow, a veteran and member of the House intelligence and armed services committees. He said his efforts in Ukraine were threefold: “Weapons, weapons, weapons.”
Despite the war now entering its fourth month, Ukrainian spirit is far from on the wane. Zelensky awarded Pelosi with the Order of Princess Olga, as a thank you for her “significant personal contribution” to strengthening American-Ukrainian ties. As the west unites behind Ukraine, Putin watches on alone with far fewer comrades to call upon.
