The serial entrepreneur has turned down a seat on Twitter’s board.

Twitter’s board loses a follower

Having become Twitter’s largest single stakeholder, many people thought it only a matter of time before Elon Musk took a seat on the board. But ever one to go against the grain, he recently revealed that he wouldn’t be taking up his seat after all.

Twitter CEO, Parag Agrawal, shared the news in a tweet to the company, stating that although a seat had been offered, Musk had decided not to accept. The reason, though, remains a mystery.

Poking the bird

Musk’s experiments in internet democracy have seen him and his followers propose various policies via online polls. Suggestions such as changing Twitter’s name, incorporating crypto payments, and a premium subscription plan that keeps the platform free of ads, have all been voted on. And while Musk has been keen to ask his followers what kinds of blue-sky policies they’d like to see implemented on the platform, it may have ruffled a few of Twitter’s feathers.

Parag suggested there could be more headlines to come, reminding Twitter employees, “There will be distractions ahead but our goals and priorities remain unchanged”. And while Twitter will apparently remain open to Musk’s policy suggestions and constructive input, could there be trouble in paradise already?
