If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

Back once again

After getting a taste of rigging claims throughout the fallout of the 2020 election, former president Trump is hungry for more. Now he’s also decided to pursue damages in the 2016 election, suing his former opponent Hillary Clinton on the basis that she and her campaign team unfairly tied his campaign to accusations of Russian influence. He’s hoping to win $24 million worth of damages, and if ever there were a man that needed the money, it’s gotta be Donald. Right?

But the ship may have already sailed on this one. The election in question was six years ago, so if there’s substance to Trump’s claims, why has he waited so long to pursue charges?

What’s the angle?

The answer may be this simple: the man loves chaos. To this day, despite failing to produce evidence that 2020 was rigged against him, Trump continues to insist it was all a hoax.

The former president has been dogged by the accusations of relationships with influential Russian players for some time. So by dragging up the past, he may well be hoping to shake it off and get his name exonerated – something he could use as a basis to contest the next presidential election. If he can raise doubt over the claims against him, Donny could well drum up enough support to compete again. Mischievous? Sure. Calculated? Let’s see.
